The vast majority of our compensation is Commission paid to us by insurance companies
for the placement of new and renewal policies. Some of our customers pay us
Consulting Fees directly. We may also receive Other Compensation, including bonuses
paid by insurance companies. Below is a more detailed description of the types
of compensation we receive.
Commissions - The majority of our compensation is in the form of commissions
paid to us by insurance companies. Commissions are a percentage of the policy
premiums and vary by insurance company, policy type, and whether they are for new
or renewal policies.
Consulting Fees - Some of our customers pay us a consulting fee for risk
management/insurance services, which may include the placement of insurance.
When we accept a consulting fee, we do not accept commissions or Other Compensation
related to the issuance of these policies; unless otherwise negotiated and specifically
agreed to in writing with our customer.
Other Compensation - Some insurance companies may pay us additional compensation,
including contingent commissions, bonuses and expense reimbursements based on overall
performance, including, but not limited to, new business activity, quality of submissions,
loss experience, and the amount of business placed with the insurance company.
In addition to these methods of compensation, on occasion we may also earn
interest income due to the way certain policies are administered by the insurance
companies. Some of our insurance policies are "Agency Billed". This means that
the insurance companies bill us (the agency) and we bill the customer. In this
case, we collect the premiums directly from our customers and then pay the
insurance company as required. In some instances, we may earn interest on the
money held in our bank account prior to paying the insurance company.
